Default Sandie Parker

Recipes from Sandie's Galley

Sandie Parker lives aboard the “Nice N' Nauti,” docked every summer in her home port of Elk Rapids, at the Edward C. Grace Memorial Harbor. There at the harbor she works, designing and planting the spring and summer flower boxes. For two years she has planted an herb garden for all the boaters to use.

From his job back home, Sandie’s husband is fortunate enough to spend long weekends in Elk Rapids and enjoy a long boating vacation every summer. He still jokes though, that “something is wrong with this picture!” Can ya’ blame him?

Sandie has worked in the food business most of her life. Her love of cooking was unknowlingly handed down to her from her mother. It has now become her passion along with her life, husband, six children and three grandchildren. The memories that are made by sharing meals around the kitchen table are priceless.

Creating a new recipe from scratch, using two recipes to create one or changing ingredients of old favorites, is how all of Sandie’s recipes begin. Of course there are the “hand me downs” that can never be changed because they are perfect as is.

An accomplished author/publisher, Sandie published her first cookbook, "Recipes from Sandie’s Galley." She has worked as a recipe columnist for many weekly and monthly newspapers in Michigan, was a regular contributor to the Bay City Times former True North section and earned a Five-Star rating from "Better Homes and Gardens."

Sandie welcomes conversation with readers. She has her own website at www.sandiesgalley.com and has a new Internet store at www.sandiesgalleyandmore.com. She hopes to release her second cookbook in time for Christmas 2009.

I am leaving on July 2nd to go cruising through the North Channel. Will not return to port until the 18th or so. Let's have some fun, help each other, and get to know some new friends.
